Dear Steve,
I was so cheered by your email.
Thank you so much. I'd really love to own such a bottle so
am most grateful to you for locating one and so quickly!
Maybe you would be interested to hear about the Abbott brothers
Charles James and William Henry.
C J was my grandmother's father but he died in 1904 when she was 3.
W J was a bit of a shocker and embezzeled from the business and so
left the country under a cloud in 1912 for the USA.
He had am American wife and a son called Ralph but what became
of them I sadly don't know.
The factory was sold to Fry and Co and has now been converted into rather nice appartments.
Granny, now long dead, could remember visiting the factory as a little girl.
They made Ginger beer and American style cream soda.
She remembered the delivery horses in all their livery and
also a terrible accident when one of the men fell into a cauldron of boiling syrup and died.
Poor Granny didn't have a very nice start to her life.
As her patents had died young she grew up at a school and after her uncle left the country
everything was sold so we have nothing at all from that side of the family.
It will be nice to have a bottle as a souvenir and so thank you so very much indeed for your help.
If you pass the chap's number on I'll call him and buy his bottle.
With very best wishes,
Andrew (Corbett-Nolan)
